Re: look what me and my brother towed home!!!!! My boat came with a 9.9 kicker on it. Hasta Soft Timonize Enterprise V6 46 Cracked Ribs To HealI ran it once with my GPS along and it would push it 5 mph without working too hard. Wide open we were doing 8 mph. Starcraft advertised the V-5's as their 'Ocean' hulls when they came out in '78. Like others have said they have an extra chine and I believe extra ribbing on the inside as well up front. The V is sharper and comes up from the keel quicker (if you were to look at it from the side). There is a write up in the '78 brochures. It's interesting they made them in 14' (Holiday), 18' (Holiday and SS), & 22' (Holiday, SS, Islander). They never made the V-5 in a 16' anything though. Re: look what me and my brother towed home!!!!! Ill try to explain those square holes the best i can, wish i would've taken more pictures of how the islander top was fastened down to the hull, it would make it much easier to see. Hastasoft TimOnize Enterprise v7.01 German 德語正式版(大中型企業管理軟體) BAN4686. The very top part of the islander cap, the windshield part, this one[IMG] [/IMG] was bolted and nyloc nutted to the top of the gunwale(painted one) that i have modified to fit the hull now( I have lowered it,about 4 inches, and moved it outward from its location on the islander). Those squares were cut so you could reach up through the squares to turn or hold the nut so the bolt could be tightened up. Im still not sure if the pieces with the squares cut in them were from the factory on either the holiday or islander or if the PO added them. I will say this, when we doing tear down and removed the piece of plywood that attaches to the floor and runs vertically and attaches to the inside of the gunwale, the gunwale was SUPER flimsy, so flimsy we had to start getting in and out of the boat at the transom to avoid damage. Hasta Soft Timonize Enterprise V6 46 Cracked RibsAt this point we only have the gunwale reattached to the edge of the hull, no plywood support vertically, and i would feel comfortable standing on it as it is, so after i put that piece of vertical plywood back in, will be able to jump all over the gunwale. Re: look what me and my brother towed home!!!!! Well we were back at it again this weekend, during the week i got the 8 leaky rivets we had drilled out and relaced with nyloc nuts and bolts, and it passed the final leak test. We got transom cut out and test fitted in hull, will probably get to permanently installing it next weekend. Went back and forth with the idea of coating it in epoxy or not, and decided against it, boat will be stored in doors year round. I have no intensions of selling this boat, so if it needs to be done again in 10-15 years so be it, transoms in these tin cans are a piece of cake compared to a glass boat. I figured the original transom( i think it was original) lasted 30 years, well 20, it should have been done ten years ago, so i should be good for awhile. [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] Next on the list was the floor, we got all pieces cut out and fitted, have to get the tank in yet before we can rivet it down. [IMG] [/IMG] No, we did not cut the piece that will cover the tank to narrow, the bulkhead and braces that go between between stringers to hold the tank down are not in yet to pull the stringers together, so the center stringers are bowed out some. Additionally, there is offsite backup allowing you to backup of your documents to network-attached storage. [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] Had to see how many decoy barrels we could fit up on the front deck. Plan on putting a hinged door on the floor of the front deck, (over the area that was the isle in the islander cuddy) for a large under deck storage, will be plenty of room for all kinds of stuff under there. We cut floor piece to for the bottom of the storage area so everything is not bouncing around on the hull itself. Re: look what me and my brother towed home!!!!! Also fabbed up some new trasom supports, the ones that tie the wood to the stingers, the originals were all cracked atleast halfway down, so i just cut them the rest of the way off. Im assuming they cracked from the po running with the transom so rotten. Made them out of.125 aluminum, we have 6 total, 2 sandwiching each center stringer and one on the inside of each outer stinger. [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] Yes i know the holes are not even close to being in a nice pattern, but i was just trying to avoid drilling more holes through the stringers, so i just used existing holes. ![]() Thats all new i have on the 22fter, but i must say i am a little disappointed in you guys, with all the starcraft nuts on here i cant believe no one has seen or spotted the other tin can in one of my previous pictures, huron noticed and commented on the big glass boat in the background, but NO ONE has noticed the 16'ss in the background? Unfortunately i dont have any refurbish pics of that boat, only pics of that one as it is today. Its by no means a pretty thing, but we bought it to use for duck hunting mainly,(22fter will be used for more fishing and duck hunting) and finished it for that purpose only. ![]() ![]() Its a 72 or 73 16'ss with a 1988 70hp johnson on it. We got the boat, 70hp and trailer for $500. Bought it last fall and the transom and floor were both shot, replaced tansom and floor, stripped her out and were able to use it last fall quite a few times for duck hunting, it was a real quick gut and refurbish. [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] That little 4hp yacht twin was my great grandpa's. Re: look what me and my brother towed home!!!!! Well got a little more progress this past weekend, not as much as we wanted to, but we had to take the time to get the 70hp motors rigged up on stands to run them for someone coming to look at them, he bought both of them, so it was nice to put some money back into the pockets for once. Ended up spending most of saturday a.m. Rigging motors to be sold. In the afternoon saturday we got the transom in and all holes drilled in it. Sunday we got our new bow cap all done and riveted to the hull. We also had to make a new 3ft piece of gunwale for each side upfront, islander didnt have them. [IMG] [/IMG] Using a 90 degree piece of aluminum to join the top and side piece of gunwale. [IMG] [/IMG] The side piece riveted in the hull. Five little ducks activities esl advanced. Would have really like to keep the radius of the other gunwale all the way up to the front, but i dont have access to a brake, so we decided to just make the new gunwale piece up front square and put a trim piece on the corner to finish it off. Hopefully it turns out ok. 2020 technologies software. [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] Here the gunwales and new bow cap are all riveted down, still have to add the trim piece along the top square edge all the way around. We just plan to put carpet on the wood crossmember up front. Hopefully by the end off the week we can have some of the new pieces of the splash well all done and riveted in.
